Hurricane Ike Waivers Discontinued Feb. 1

Keywords: Reimbursement

Medicaid discontinued the special waivers for services rendered to clients in ZIP codes affected by Hurricane Ike on Feb. 1. You must file any remaining Hurricane Ike claims for services rendered from Sept. 9, 2008, through Jan. 31, 2009, within 95 days of Feb. 1.

The normal requirements for primary care provider referrals, prior authorizations, and 95-day filing deadlines were reinstated for claims with dates of service of Feb. 1 and after.

For more information, call Texas Medicaid & Healthcare Partnership at (800) 925-9126.

And, the Texas Health and Human Services Commission needs your help estimating the amount of uncompensated care provided to uninsured evacuees of hurricanes Dolly and Ike. Please complete this online survey, Texas Hurricane-Related Uncompensated Care Survey, by Feb. 6.
