Program Objectives:
|
Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to: 1) describe common mood, anxiety, and personality issues in physicians; 2) recognize the risk factors for suicide in physicians; 3) define approaches to recognize, treat, and facilitate recovery of symptomatic colleagues; 4) state the ways they will need to modify their approach to address a colleague who exhibits mental disorder symptoms; 5) demonstrate behaviors that characterize ethical professional conduct; 6) define the concept of professionalism; 7) distinguish between appropriate, inappropriate, and disruptive behavior; 8) explain the intent of the Joint Commission leadership standard; 9) formulate an action plan that addresses behaviors which undermine the culture of safety; 10) review the ethical obligations of physicians to protect patient and public health through appropriate interventions; and 11) summarize intervention goals and implement processes that address disruptive behavior in physicians.
