Disaster Preparedness Resource Center

When disaster strikes are Texas physicians prepared? With a resounding "yes" we must remain on high alert to ensure an effective response from Texas physicians in times of a disaster or evacuation. During Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in 2005,  TMA physicians overwhelming heeded the call for physician volunteers and provided much needed medical care to evacuees throughout Texas. With the constant threat of terrorism, pandemic influenza, avian influenza as well as natural disasters TMA has created the disaster preparedness resource page which outlines recommendations to assist you during an emergency response situation.

Volunteer to help  (TMA's Physicians Rapid Response Team Sign-up Form)
Any TMA-member physician may register via this link. Should the state call on TMA for physicians to volunteer in a disaster, state officials would tell us when and where they need physicians. Based on that, TMA and/or the associated county medical society would use this registration list to identify and contact potential physician volunteers.
