Subject: Acceptance of Financial Support from Managed Care Companies

Whereas, Physicians are held to the highest ethical standards and are prohibited from accepting gifts of value from medically-related industries; and

Whereas, Texas physicians are organized together and represented by the Texas Medical Association; and

Whereas, Physicians are engaged in a continuing struggle to care for their patients in an adversarial managed care environment; therefore be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Delegates of the Texas Medical Association instruct the Board of Trustees to consider carefully the appropriateness of accepting financial support from any managed care company for association activities.
