Breastfeeding : The Texas Medical Association endorses the Texas Department of State Health Services breastfeeding training programs and materials for physicians and their patients. TMA recognizes that exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months and continued breastfeeding for at least one year is important for the optimal health and development of infants and children and encourages all physicians to promote and support breastfeeding as the gold standard of infant nutrition.
