06/01/2019
Effective June 1, 2019, ALL official prescription forms ordered before to Sept. 1, 2018, will no longer be valid.
Order prescription forms early to avoid running out. Because of the increasing number of orders received, delivery time may exceed six to eight weeks. The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) issued rules in 2010 allowing for the electronic transmission of controlled substance prescriptions. The rules require certification of both the prescriber software system and the pharmacy software system by an independent third-party auditor. As of Oct. 13, 2013, rules were adopted to allow Schedule II controlled substances to be transmitted electronically. Visit www.texmed.org/e-prescribe to learn more.
