Women Physicians Section Executive Council Positions

CHAIR

The chair shall preside over all WPS section and executive council meetings, subject to the WPS operating procedures and TMA bylaws. The chair shall have the authority to call section meetings, designate ad hoc section committees, and appoint committee members. The term of office shall be one year. 

CHAIR ELECT

The chair-elect shall assist the chair and preside at meetings in the absence of the chair or at the chair’s request. The term of office shall be one year.  

SECRETARY

The secretary shall record proceedings of the meetings of the WPS and Executive Council, and help to moderate content for the WPS Facebook page. The secretary will lead section meetings when the chair is unavailable. The term of office shall be one year. 

DELEGATE AND ALTERNATE DELEGATE TO TMA HOUSE OF DELEGATES (Two Year Term)

The delegate and alternate delegate shall represent the section in the TMA House of Delegates. Any member of the WPS Section in good standing may be elected as delegate or alternate delegate. The term of office shall be two years. 

ASSOCIATE AND ALTERNATE ASSOCIATE TO AMA WOMEN PHYSICIANS SECTION

The AMA-WPS associate and alternate associate shall represent the TMA WPS Section at the AMA-WPS section meetings during the AMA Annual (June 8, Chicago, IL) and Interim Meetings (Nov. 14-15, San Diego, CA). Candidates for AMA-WPS associate and alternate associate must be active AMA members. The term of office shall be one year.

In addition, associates are expected to:

  • Participate in the AMA-HOD handbook review and develop policy through resolution writing
  • Exchange relevant information between the AMA-WPS and the associate’s organizations
  • Implement local September Women in Medicine Month activities
