TMA Foundation, a 501 (c)(3) organization, is the philanthropic arm of TMA. It is the only philanthropy in Texas dedicated to the charitable concerns of all physicians. TMAF’s mission is to "fund initiatives with the power to help physicians create a healthier future for all Texans." TMA projects funded by TMAF are selected on their ability to target urgent health needs affecting a large segment of the state's residents with results that can be measured. Projects often involve public-private collaborations, which maximize the effectiveness of programs and enable efforts to be tailored to meet local needs. Learn more about TMA Foundation.
The 2021 gala, Superheroes: Meeting the Challenge, is a tribute to the many Texans who are working to keep you and your family, friends and colleagues safe during the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as TMA and TMA Alliance member volunteers who improve the health of Texans though TMAF-funded programs. Join us in celebrating physicians, nurses, first responders, and others on Friday, May 14, 2021 at 7:00 pm for the first TMAF virtual gala. Tickets and sponsorships are available now. Special thanks to the sponsors who have signed on!
TMA county medical societies, alliance and medical student chapters are encouraged to apply for a grant of up to $2,500 in matching funds for programs that address issues in their community during the current pandemic. Deadline for applications is March 31, 2021. Programs designed to improve the health of your community including testing, education and more are encouraged.
Thousands of underserved Texans in Dallas/Fort Worth and Galveston will have access to health care, locally grown food, and COVID-19 testing thanks to the three special health care nonprofits presented the TMAF’s John P. McGovern Champion of Health Awards for 2021.
You are a PULSE donor when you donate monthly (or at the frequency of your choice). Regular contributions ensure TMA Foundation can support unanticipated funding opportunities. Pulse Donors ensure a healthy Texas.
Donors made the decisive difference in helping to meet the greatest needs faced by children, students, adults with chronic conditions and more. In fact this year more than 50 TMAF grants enabled TMA and TMA Alliance members and their community collaborators to provide vaccine protection to thousands, health and wellness outreach to physicians facing unrelenting stress due to COVID-19, blood pressure management for the uninsured and much more.
Thank you to our individual donors in 2020 for creating a Healthy Now and a Healthy Future for all Texans.
Thank you to our institutional donors in 2020 for collaborating to create a Healthy Now and a Healthy Future for all Texans.
Because health fairs and similar community events still aren’t a safe option right due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, TMA's Hard Hats for Little Heads bicycle helmet giveaway program will take a hiatus through May 2021. The TMA Council on Health Promotion will reevaluate the COVID-19 environment relative to HHLH to determine if it is safe to resume. TMA Foundation continues to raise funds to be prepared for this possible resumption of activities in the second half of 2021. Your donation will help insure the program hits the ground running, so please make your secure online donation today.

TMA Foundation is qualified to accept “qualified charitable distributions” from an IRA. If you’re 70 and 1/2 or older, an IRA “qualified charitable distribution” or QCD enables you to support the work of TMAF without tapping into other income you need for daily and monthly needs. It also can help you starting at age 72 when you must take your required minimum distribution because QCDs of up to $100,000 in a year may be excluded from taxable income. Read more about the NEW law and how you and TMAF can benefit from this method of donating.
Join more than 120 of your colleagues whose gifts to the TMAF General Endowment are providing sustained philanthropic funding for the community health improvement work of TMA physicians and medical students and alliance members over the long term.
