Be Wise — ImmunizeSM is a public health initiative of the Texas Medical Association. The program works with physicians, medical students, and TMA Alliance members to improve vaccination rates in Texas through education and hands-on immunization clinics.
Be Wise offers physicians current information and best practices on childhood, adolescent, and adult vaccinations, and educational materials to promote the importance, safety, and effectiveness of vaccines. Be Wise also provides funding, educational and promotional materials, and merchandise to enhance local vaccination clinics. More than 360,000 vaccinations have been given since the program began in 2004.
Two recent surveys of Be Wise – Immunize gauged strengths and weaknesses of the program, and TMA member awareness of the program and attitudes about public health outreach related to TMA priorities. Read the findings in the survey report.
