QPP: Last day to submit data for the 2017 Quality Payment Program using the CMS web interface reporting method
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) developed the Quality Payment Program (QPP) to implement the two payment tracks required by the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015 (MACRA). The two tracks are the Merit-Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) and advanced alternative payment models (APMs). The QPP is an annual reporting program that affects Medicare payment two years later. The first QPP performance year was Jan. 1-Dec. 31, 2017. Eligible physicians and clinicians who are required to participate in the 2017 QPP must report data to CMS by March 31, except for CMS web interface users. Group practices using the CMS web interface reporting method must report data by March 16, 2018.
03/16/2018
Participation in the 2017 QPP affects Medicare payment in 2019. Group practices that elected to use the CMS web interface reporting method must report data by March 16, 2018, to avoid a 4-percent pay cut to their 2019 Medicare physician fee schedule payments.
The CMS web interface reporting method is available only to group practices with 25 or more clinicians and that registered with CMS in June 2017. Group practices that elected to use the CMS web interface reporting method should report data to CMS by March 16. For questions about this reporting method, contact the CMS QPP Service Center at (866) 288-8292 or by email at QPP@cms.hhs.gov.
