Practice Operations: Medicaid Reenrollment Deadline - Extended Six Months
The Affordable Care Act required all physicians and health care providers to reenroll in Medicaid every three to five years based on provider type. Physicians and health care professionals, including advanced practice nurses and physician assistants, must reenroll every five years. The initial deadline to complete reenrollment was March 24, 2016. But the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services extended the deadline by six months to Sept. 25, 2016.
Failure to complete reenrollment by the deadline will result in payment denial and potential suspension from Medicaid HMOs.
Physicians should complete reenrollment as soon as possible to ensure timely processing of the application and to avoid potential disruptions in payment. You may submit the application through the online provider portal or on paper. For more information, visit TMHP: www.tmhp.com/Pages/Topics/Reenrollment.aspx.
