Would you like a say in what measures should be a standard part of insurance quality programs across the nation – and which ones shouldn’t?
The Texas Medical Association now has input in that discussion as a member of the Core Quality Measures Collaborative (CQMC), and TMA could use your help as a participant in the collaborative’s workgroups.
In CQMC, stakeholder members evaluate existing measures and decide whether to include them in a core set that, in the collaborative’s opinion, should be at the top of the list for inclusion in value-based purchasing programs and alternative payment models. CQMC has more than 70 member organizations, including the American Medical Association, the American College of Physicians, several major payers and the National Business Group on Health.
Early this year, TMA became the first state medical association to join the collaborative, earning admission as a nonvoting participant. There are no limits on how many representatives TMA can engage as part of the collaborative, so it wants to get as many physician voices from Texas as possible to serve on CQMC workgroups.
CQMC has told TMA its major focus areas for 2021 will include:
- Maintenance/standard operations – Performing ad-hoc core set maintenance;
- Measure model alignment – Aligning collection, transmission, standardization, and dissemination of data;
- Digital measurement – Developing a business model for better uptake of digital measures;
- Cross-cutting issues – Identifying barriers and solutions for uptake of the measures; and
- Measure gaps and prospective alignment – Fostering development in priority areas.
