Now that the data submission period has ended for Medicare’s 2017 Quality Payment Program (QPP), are you ready for the 2018 QPP performance year?
If the answer is no, you’re not alone. The TMA MACRA Resource Center receives hundreds of visits every month from physicians looking for the latest QPP information. We also receive calls daily with questions on how to participate in the program’s Merit-Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) or Alternative Payment Models (APMs). To bring you the best education and resources, TMA wants to hear from you on the QPP.
Why do you want to hear from me?
Under the QPP, you have the MIPS, MIPS APM, and advanced APM tracks, and each has its own set of performance metrics, data requirements, methodologies, and scoring standards. Each year, Medicare sets new or changes existing policies and regulations that govern QPP. This means that with every new calendar year comes new or modified data requirements under each track. If you don’t stay on top of them, you easily can fall behind and lose out on a bonus payment, or worse, end up with a Medicare payment penalty.
What does TMA want to know?
No matter your experience, TMA wants to hear anything you’re willing to share. We want to know what works for you and what doesn’t so we can bring you the education and resources that will help you select the right track for your practice, specialty, and patients. For example, TMA wants to know:
- Have you taken part in QPP before?
- Do you currently participate? If not, why?
- Where do you get most of your information?
- What types of educational formats and resources are most helpful?
- Other suggestions that will help you succeed in the QPP.
Where can I have my say?
The TMA Council on Health Care Quality will host a quality track at TexMed 2018 on Saturday, May 19 from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
If you can’t make it to TexMed, be sure to watch your email inbox this summer for TMA’s 2018 biennial survey to tell us what you think about the QPP. You also can send your feedback anytime at macra[at]texmed[dot]org.
Visit the TMA MACRA Resource Center and check out our QPP information.
