State Webinar: COVID Vaccines for Kids Under 5
By Joey Berlin

The Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) is holding its latest Texas Vaccine Provider Webinar, focusing on the launch of COVID-19 vaccines for children under 5, today from noon to 1:30 pm CT.

The webinar comes just after the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on June 17 authorized the use of the three-shot Pfizer vaccine for children between 6 months and 4 years old. FDA also authorized the two-dose Moderna vaccine for ages 6 months through 17 years.

The final step to pave the way for administration of these vaccines is an affirming vote by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s immunization advisory committee, which at press time was expected to vote on these vaccines during its two-day meeting on June 17-18.

DSHS’ webinar today will have medical teams from both Pfizer and Moderna available to answer frequently asked questions. Register.

DSHS also has Texas Vaccine Provider webinars scheduled on June 28 and July 5. Those webinars, also running from noon to 1:30, will cover a variety of vaccine-related topics.
