Kenneth L. Mattox, MD, a Houston thoracic and trauma surgeon in practice for 51 years, was reelected to serve as an AMA delegate.

Eddie L. Patton Jr., MD, a Houston neurologist in practice for 11 years, was reelected to serve as an alternate delegate to AMA.

Elizabeth Torres, MD, a Sugar Land internal medicine physician in practice for 38 years, was elected to serve as an AMA delegate. She was an alternate delegate previously.

The physicians are all members of the Harris County Medical Society.

As part of the Texas Delegation to the AMA, the physicians take policy proposals adopted by the TMA House of Delegates to the AMA House of Delegates. In addition, they advocate on the national level for Texas patients and physicians.

TMA is the largest state medical society in the nation, representing more than 56,000 physician and medical student members. It is located in Austin and has 110 component county medical societies around the state. TMA’s key objective since 1853 is to improve the health of all Texans.
