Physicians and practices affected by the COVID-19 pandemic have until Friday, Nov. 6, to apply for the latest round of emergency federal funding through the Provider Relief Fund.
The new funds - $20 billion – are the third phase of distribution from the fund, which is part of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act.
Physicians and practices that already received, rejected, or accepted Provider Relief Fund payments will be eligible to apply for additional money, the federal Health and Human Services (HHS) Department said.
In addition, physicians who began practicing in between Jan. 1 and March 31, 2020, will be eligible, as well as an expanded group of behavioral health specialists, the agency said.
HHS encourages physicians to apply as quickly as possible to "expedite [its] review process and payment calculations."
“All provider submissions will be reviewed to confirm they have received a Provider Relief Fund payment equal to approximately 2 percent of patient care revenue from prior general distributions,” HHS said.
“Applicants that have not yet received Relief Fund payments of 2 percent of patient revenue will receive a payment that, when combined with prior payments (if any), equals 2 percent of patient care revenue.”
Meanwhile, HHS has outlined the reporting requirements for physicians and practices that have received more than $10,000 from the fund.
