TMB License Renewals Due Aug. 31

If your medical license was set to expire on Feb. 28 or May 31, and you benefited from the Texas Medical Board’s (TMB’s) automatic extension due to COVID-19, your license renewal fees are coming due Aug. 31.

The extension also applied to newly licensed physicians and physician assistants whose initial registrations were due between March and June of this year.

TMB said it sent renewal extension reminders to approximately 10,500 physician licensees in April, letting them know they could start renewing their licenses ahead of the Aug. 31 expiration date.

TMB has no plans to send additional renewal notices beyond what it already sent in April, “which is the standard notice months out from the expiration,” a TMB spokesperson told Texas Medicine Today. Nor does the agency plan to extend the Aug. 31 deadline, he said.

Physician licensees have a 30-day grace period before TMB assesses any late fees. Visit the TMB website for more information.
