How much do you know about human trafficking?
Do you know that according to the latest data available, about 79,000 minors and young people are victims of sex trafficking in Texas at any given time?
Are you aware that more than 230,000 people are victims of labor trafficking in Texas?
To raise awareness of and help curb human trafficking in Texas, state legislators passed a law last year requiring direct patient care physicians who renew their medical license after Sept. 1, 2020, to take one hour of CME that addresses human trafficking.
TMA has now published its own CME course - Identifying Human Trafficking in Texas: What Physicians Need to Know - to educate physicians on how to identify, treat, and respond to people who are at risk or who have been trafficked.
The course, which meets all required Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) human trafficking training standards, is accredited for 1 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ and 1 Ethics. Find more information on the course here.
