Elections, particularly the spring party primaries, determine the practice environment for Texas physicians and our patients. And election season is upon us.

To help elect medicine-friendly candidates in the March primaries, you must be registered to vote by Monday, Feb. 3

The Texas Medical Association and TEXPAC, TMA’s bipartisan political action committee, strive to ensure physicians have a viable business environment in which to care for patients. To accomplish that, it’s imperative that medicine-friendly laws – like the historic 2003 tort reforms and 2019 balance billing legislation – continue to be passed, says Bradford Patt, MD, chair of TEXPAC’s board of directors.

“With six physicians serving in the state House and Senate, and more than 51,300 active patient-care physicians in Texas contributing more than 670,000 direct and indirect jobs and almost $118 billion to the state’s economy, the house of medicine is an economic engine with an important story to tell,” Dr. Patt said.

Early voting for begins Tuesday, Feb. 18. The primary elections are Tuesday, March 3.
