Even though Texas’ primary election turnout totals in March were — as usual — lower than desired, the House of Medicine showed up in droves to vote.
The Texas Medical Association and TEXPAC strongly encourage you to do it again by 7 p.m. today, election day.
Two incumbent state House of Representative members, Reps. Scott Cosper (R-Killeen) and Rene Oliveira (D-Brownsville), are friends of medicine in Texas and must keep their seats Austin to continue their efforts on our behalf. The upcoming legislative session will be a busy one.
State Rep. Lance Gooden (R-Kaufman) is seeking election to the U.S. House of Representatives, where we always need more representatives fighting federal overregulation.
Five other candidates whom TEXPAC is proud to endorse need your vote for the state House:
- Keith Bell, a Republican running for House District 4 (HD-4);
- Cody Harris, a Republican running for HD-8;
- Ben Leman, a Republican running for HD-13;
- Reggie Smith, a Republican running for HD-62;
- Steve Allison, a Republican running for HD-121.
“Healthy patients mean a healthy Texas,” said TEXPAC Board Chair Robert Rogers, MD. “We strongly encourage you to give these candidates your vote. Sign in to the Secretary of State’s ‘You Count’ website to find a list of polling places — or check with your county clerk.
“If you didn’t cast an early ballot, please get out and vote today before 7 p.m. Please vote. Support the candidates who support physicians and our patients.”
