Define Yourself! Crafting a Powerful Personal Brand

Marny_Lifshen

The concept of personal brands has been a mainstay in the professional community for 15 years, but few people truly understand what personal brands are, why they are important, or how to evaluate and elevate their own brand.

This Women in Medicine event featured speaker and author Marny Lifshen, and included a copy of her book, Some Assembly Required: A Networking Guide for Women, for attendees. Marny offers guidance in managing personal brands in a meaningful and impactful way, including specific steps for determining how small, simple and consistent changes can help change the way people are perceived by influencers in their careers.

Many professionals know they are “supposed” to build a personal brand and network in order to further their career, but few know how to shape these skills in a meaningful way in their career. As men and women tend to build and manage relationships and communicate differently, brand awareness and networking can be challenging – especially for professional women in male dominated industries and professions. During this event participants learned why and how a strong personal brand, networking and communication can make a significant difference in their patient care and overall career success.
