State Medicaid officials say they mistakenly deactivated coverage for numerous cardiac and other codes .
Medicaid says it will reactivate most of the cardiac codes on Sept. 24. The state will reimburse physicians for those codes retroactive to July 1 without physicians having to take any action.
At TMA's request, the state Medicaid director's office is reviewing all the deactivated codes. Officials will post updates on the Texas Medicaid & Healthcare Partnership Web site , as they complete their reviews.
A cardiologist in Tyler brought the problem to TMA's attention earlier this month. The Health and Human Services Commission is conducting an internal audit to figure out what went wrong.
