Seven El Paso physicians have begun new terms of service in Texas Medical Association (TMA) leadership positions.
TMA leaders elect or appoint TMA physicians and medical students to one of TMA’s 25 boards, councils, and committees. They are responsible for studying health care-related issues and making recommendations on important health care policy affecting Texas patients and their physicians.
All of these physicians are members of the El Paso County Medical Society.
Ogechika K. Alozie, MD, an infectious disease specialist in practice for 11 years; appointed chair of TMA’s Committee on Health Information Technology.
Lisa M. Ayoub-Rodriguez, MD, a pediatrician in practice for 10 years; reappointed to the TMA Committee on Child and Adolescent Health.
James Byron Boone III, MD, an anesthesiologist in practice for 18 years; reelected to the TMA Council on Medical Education.
Jose Manuel de la Rosa, MD, a pediatrician in practice for 33 years; reappointed as a consultant to the TMA Council on Medical Education.
Gilberto A. Handal, MD, an infectious disease specialist in practice for 51 years; reappointed as a consultant to the TMA Committee on Infectious Diseases.
Hector I. Ocaranza-Flores, MD, a pediatrician in practice for 22 years; elected to the TMA Council on Science and Public Health.
Alan H. Tyroch, MD, a surgeon in practice for 24 years; appointed as a consultant to the TMA Committee on Emergency Medical Services and Trauma.
