Distribution and Prioritization

  • Texas Resumes Johnson & Johnson Vaccine Administration: Texas is following federal health officials’ recommendations that the Johnson & Johnson/Janssen COVID-19 vaccine again be administered to adults ages 18 and older, lifting a pause that had been in place following reports of rare blood clots in certain people. “The known and potential benefits of the J&J vaccine outweigh the known and potential risks of a rare syndrome of blood clots in conjunction with low platelet counts,” the Texas Department of State Health Services said. Physicians and facilities should review the vaccine’s clinical fact sheet and provide patients with the updated fact sheet for recipients. Read more information.
  • COCA Call on Johnson & Johnson Vaccine Set for Today: The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will present the latest evidence on thrombosis with thrombocytopenia syndrome associated with the Johnson & Johnson/Janssen COVID-19 vaccine during a virtual webinar from 1 to 2 pm (CT) today. Register for the Clinician Outreach and Communication Activity (COCA) call online.
  • Another 1.7 Million Doses Coming to Texas: Another 708,460 first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine will be delivered to 928 facilities across Texas this week, the Texas Department of State Health Services said. The state also has ordered 570,520 doses intended as the second dose, along with an estimated 470,000 first and second doses to be delivered directly from the federal government to pharmacies and federally qualified health centers.
