By David Doolittle

The information below is current as of Feb. 10, 2021.

Distribution and Prioritization

The Department of State Health Services (DSHS) hosts weekly meetings of the Expert Vaccine Allocation Panel (EVAP). Find details below, and check this DSHS webpage for updates.

  • Encourage Undocumented Immigrants to Receive Vaccines: If you or your practice cares for immigrants, remind them that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and its federal partners support equal access for all people to the COVID-19 vaccines and vaccine distribution sites. In addition, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention requires that data about vaccine recipients not be used “for any civil or criminal prosecution or enforcement, including, but not limited to, immigration enforcement.” Read more information.
  • Reminder: Physicians Must Order Second Doses of COVID-19 Vaccine: Physicians and facilities that administer COVID-19 vaccines should remember that the Texas Department of State Health Services will no longer automatically send second doses. Instead, physicians and facilities must request an allotment of second doses through the Texas Vaccine Allocation & Ordering System (VAOS) seven to 14 days after receiving first doses. Read more information.
  • More Vaccine Doses Coming to Texas: Another 401,750 first doses will be delivered to 358 facilities across Texas this week, including 85 hub providers that will focus on larger community vaccination efforts, the Texas Department of State Health Services reported. The state also has ordered 330,925 doses intended as the second dose. Read more information.
  • ImmTrac2 to Temporarily Go Offline Friday: ImmTrac2, the state’s vaccine registry, will go offline beginning from 9 pm to midnight (CT) Friday, Feb. 12, for scheduled system maintenance, the state Department of State Health Services said. Organizations will not be penalized for failure to report within 24 hours due to the maintenance downtime. Read more ImmTrac2 information.
