A statement from Texas Medical Association President Diana L. Fite, MD

“Physicians, public health officials, and many other health care professionals take their responsibilities seriously. They not only treat those who become sick, but they work hard to prevent illness before it begins. Using trusted data to inform patients of the facts is part of being a trusted leader. In this COVID-19 era, providing clear and accurate information is critical to preventing more cases and more deaths. The Texas Medical Association agrees with the American Medical Association and others in stating that COVID-19 is real, the consequences are real. Know the facts and act responsibly by wearing a mask, physically distancing, and washing your hands frequently to reduce suffering, illness and death.”
