Remind Your Patients: Summer Is Here, But So Is COVID-19

You don’t need me to tell you it’s summertime in Texas. But as you also know, this year’s summertime fun – such as traveling, swimming, and cookouts – is taking place during a global pandemic.

Texas’ COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations, and deaths have climbed significantly, particularly in July.

That’s why it’s more important than ever for physicians to remind patients, family, and friends to continue to practice what are now well-known safety precautions, such as wearing a mask, social distancing, and washing hands.

To help you send that message to your patients, the Texas Medical Association has created a video featuring TMA President Diana Fite, MD, urging Texans to stay safe.

“Your Texas doctors want you to go out and have fun, but remember, COVID-19 is still here,” Dr. Fite says in the video. “More Texans than ever are in the hospital and my emergency departments with COVID-19, so we urge you to stay home as much as you can, wear a mask when you’re out, wash your hands frequently, and continue to practice social distancing.”

The video is among the many videos, graphics, and social media posts TMA has created to remind Texans to stay safe during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Check out everything TMA has created on our Social Media Toolkit webpage. Please share them on your practice website, social media channels, and emails.

And, as always, visit the TMA COVID-19 Resource Center for news, information, tools, and tips.
