Use This Permission Letter to Excuse Students from School Due to COVID-19

If you treat students who are suspected of exposure to COVID-19, the Texas Medical Association COVID-19 Task Force has created a draft letter you can use to document the patient's excusal or return to school.

The letter can be used to convey the patient’s specific status related to symptoms, testing, quarantining, or diagnosis from COVID-19 exposure. The return-to-school conditions outlined in the form are based on current Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines and are intended to complement local school policy and health authority guidance.

The letter can be found on TMA’s COVID-19 Resource Center, which also contains the latest news, resources, and government guidance on the coronavirus pandemic.
