By now you’ve probably heard or read a lot about telemedicine.
(If you haven’t, just visit the Texas Medical Association website.)
Telemedicine use has grown considerably in the past few years, helped in part by TMA-backed legislation that established a framework for telemedicine in Texas and established coverage requirements.
But whether you’re currently using telemedicine or are interested in incorporating it into your practice, you’ve probably got a few questions:
- Do you have to see a patient in person before or after a telemedicine encounter?
- What standard of care applies in a telemedicine encounter?
- What licensure requirements apply to providing telemedicine?
- Are there any special requirements for issuing a prescription through telemedicine?
- How can you get paid for telemedicine medical services?
Those are all outstanding questions. And, those questions and more are covered in TMA’s updated white paper on telemedicine.
Updated this year, Texas Laws and Regulations Relating to Telemedicine describes the new Texas legal and regulatory requirements that apply to a physician providing telemedicine medical services.
The white paper counts as CME and is accredited for 1.5 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM.
