The Texas Medical Association’s Women in Medicine Section will hold its first organizational meeting at the TMA 2019 Fall Conference in September, and you are encouraged to apply for a leadership position within the new section.
The Women in Medicine Section will help develop official policy, programming, and services to ensure that women are well-represented within TMA.
Interim officers will be elected and discussions will be held on operating procedures and section charges during the meeting, scheduled for noon to 2 pm Sept. 14 at the Hyatt Lost Pines Resort & Spa.
To apply for a leadership position, submit a CV and letter of interest by Aug. 16 to Melanie Harrison, program manager in TMA’s Membership and Leadership Development Department.
The idea for a section was introduced during a Women in Medicine event at the 2018 Fall Conference. TMA’s House of Delegates approved the section at TexMed 2019 in May. Membership in the section is automatic for all female TMA members, although all TMA members are welcome to join.
Fall Conference is scheduled for Sept. 13 and 14. Advance registration ends Sept. 6.
