Vaccinations Available for Tarrant County Kids, Adults

 June 30, 2019

  • WHAT: Uninsured and underinsured Tarrant County residents can get low-cost vaccinations to prepare for school, and to prevent harmful and potentially deadly diseases. The Texas Medical Association’s (TMA’s) Be Wise – ImmunizeSM program will join efforts with the Immunization Collaboration of Tarrant County (ICTC) to provide vaccinations to local kids, as well as adults.
  • WHEN: Aug. 3-30, 2019 (See schedule below.)
  • WHERE: Arlington, Bedford, Fort Worth, and White Settlement
  • WHO: Tarrant County children and adults, ICTC partners, and volunteers

August is National Immunization Awareness Month, and a great opportunity to make sure children’s vaccinations are up to date before school.

With the support of TMA, ICTC will provide low-cost vaccinations for children who have no health insurance, are underinsured (insurance coverage with a cap on vaccines), or are covered by the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) or Medicaid. Vaccinations for children cost $8 per shot. Cash, check, CHIP, and Medicaid are accepted as payment. Children who have health insurance that covers vaccines should see their physician.

Adult Safety Net Program vaccines for adults (19 years and older) with no health insurance also will be available for a $15 fee per vaccination.

ICTC is made up of individuals, agencies, and organizations (public and private) committed to eradicating vaccine-preventable childhood diseases in Tarrant County. ICTC projects directly improve the health and well-being of children, adolescents, and adults through low-cost vaccination events and community education about the importance of immunizations.

ICTC collaborates with TMA’s Be Wise – Immunize program to provide educational materials about the importance of getting vaccinated. Be Wise – Immunize has given more than 360,000 shots to Texas children, adolescents, and adults since the program began in 2004. Funding for Be Wise – Immunize is provided in 2019 by the TMA Foundation thanks to generous support from H-E-B, TMF Health Quality Institute, Pfizer Inc., and gifts from physicians and their families.

Below is a schedule of vaccination events in the Fort Worth area. Reporters: Please contact Alyssa Clader, ICTC development/business manager, at (817) 776-5574 for details on events.
