As a physician, you know many of the laws and regulations surrounding medicine, your specialty, and your practice.

But if you’ve ever wanted to know more about the legal issues associated with medicine, plan to attend the Physicians and Hospitals Law Institute, scheduled for early February in San Antonio.

The three-day program, organized by the American Health Lawyers Association (AHLA), includes more than 45 breakout sessions on topics such as compliance, fair market value, fraud and abuse, transactions, and medical staff issues.

Eleven sessions will focus on health information technology, including integrated clinical records, telehealth and remote patient monitoring, and meeting HIPAA interoperability and insurance requirements.

As a member of the Texas Medical Association, you are eligible to register at the AHLA member rate (a $250 discount off the non-member rate). When registering, follow each of the steps and prior to checking out, simply use the promotion code PHS19-DISCOUNT, and the discount will be applied.

The institute is set for Feb. 4 through 6 at the Grand Hyatt San Antonio. The hotel cutoff date was Jan. 10.

Find more information, including how to register, on the AHLA’s website.
