Residents and Young Physicians: Register Now for TMA’s Winter Conference

Mark your calendars for a resident and young physician member meeting during the Texas Medical Association’s 2020 Winter Conference, which is scheduled for Jan. 24 and 25 at the Hyatt Regency Austin. 

resident and young physician mixer is planned from 8 to 9 pm Jan. 24, followed by a joint business meeting from 9 to 10 pm.  

During the meeting, section members will elect a resident member to the TMA Board of Trustees and an Alternate Delegate to Texas Delegation to the American Medical Association. To apply for one of these positions, please submit a CV and letter of interest via email by Jan. 20.  

The General Session will include panel discussions on Texas’ influence on national health care policy, how to use Texas’ new prescription monitoring program (known as PMP Aware) to communicate better with patients, and climate change.

You can register for the conference online until Jan. 17, or you can register on site. Attendance is free to TMA members.

RFS Awards Nominees Sought 

Nominations are being accepted for the annual J.T. “Lamar” McNew Award. This award recognizes a TMA physician member who has provided exceptional guidance and support to the Resident and Fellow Section or to residents in general. Nominations are due by Jan. 20. The winner will be honored at TexMed 2020 in Fort Worth in May.
