Do You Speak Effectively About Flu Vaccines?
By David Doolittle

You know that your patients should get an influenza vaccine every year.

But do you know how to speak to them about why?

If you’re shaking your head at this point (or even if you’re not really sure), register now for the upcoming webinar: Communicating the Benefits of Seasonal Influenza Vaccine in Texas.

The webinar, presented by the Association of Immunization Managers (AIM) and featuring LJ Tan, MD, of the Immunization Action Coalition (AIC), will cover the research and benefits of the flu vaccine.

It also will discuss the Texas Department of State Health Services’ (DSHS’) new flu dashboard, a report of flu vaccine coverage and utilization rates for facilities enrolled in Texas Vaccines for Children (TVFC). DSHS distributes dashboards to all TVFC-enrolled sites monthly. To receive an additional copy of your dashboard, contact Kayla.Boykins[at]dshs[dot]texas[dot]gov or call (512) 776-6952.

The webinar also will provide information on ordering flu from the DSHS Immunization Unit.

The webinar is scheduled from 11 am to noon, Friday, Nov. 30.

For more information about the flu vaccine, including simple tips for speaking to your patients about it, check out this one-pager from AIM and AIC.

You can also find plenty of information and useful links at the Texas Medical Association’s Be Wise – ImmunizeSM webpage.
