If you are interested in staying up to date on palliative care and how physicians can provide the best care for patients during this sensitive time, plan to attend a free continuing medical education (CME) event next week.

Advancing Palliative Care in Texas, presented by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission’s (HHSC) Palliative Care Information and Education Program, features Abilene hospice and palliative medicine specialist Joshua Reed, DO, who will discuss the opioid crisis and nonopioid and nonpharmacologic methods for coping with pain.

Breakout sessions on palliative care legislation and advanced care planning are also scheduled.

The free event is planned from 1 to 4 pm Monday, Nov. 12 at HHSC headquarters in Austin. Register now to attend in person or via live webinar.

The event is designated for a maximum of 3 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM.
