If you’ve been thinking about becoming deeply involved in how Medicaid and other state health programs run, the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) has extended the deadline to apply for the state's Drug Utilization Review Board.
The Drug Utilization Review Board ensures that drug therapy is appropriate, necessary, and safe while allowing adequate professional discretion. It advises HHSC on the operation of the statewide Medicaid preferred drug list based on drugs’ efficacy, clinical significance, cost effectiveness, and safety.
Members serve four-year terms and must participate regularly in board meetings, which are held at least quarterly in Austin. Applications are due by 11:59 pm Nov. 1. The deadline had originally been Oct. 1.
