If you still haven’t filed some insurance claims for damage caused by Hurricane Harvey, you might want to act quickly.
Harvey made landfall on Aug. 25 last year, causing widespread flooding along the coast. Some insurance claims, including to the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association (TWIA), must be reported by the one-year anniversary of the date the damage occurred, unless you can show good cause for a delay.
Check your policy language or contact your insurer for claims deadlines. To file a TWIA claim, visit www.twia.org or call (800) 788-8247.
Visit the Texas Department of Insurance’s (TDI’s) “Help After the Storm” page for recovery tips or help resolving an issue with your insurance company. You also can call the TDI Consumer Help Line at (800) 252-3439 from 8 am to 5 pm (CT) Monday through Friday.
