Whitehouse Kids to Receive Shots for School

Aug. 1, 2018

August is National Immunization Awareness Month, and a great opportunity to make sure children’s vaccinations are up-to-date before school.

Back-to-school vaccinations will be available for children who are eligible for the Texas Vaccines for Children (TVFC) program. Limited shots will be available on a first-come, first-served basis for kids who are underinsured (meaning their insurance coverage requires parents to pay a deductible or the insurance limits the vaccinations covered). Parents should bring their child’s immunization record and health insurance information.

Vaccinations will be offered at no cost, or for a $10 administration fee, depending on insurance coverage. Children with private or commercial insurance must have insurance verified before the event. Contact NET Health at (903) 510-5604 by 3 pm on Friday, Aug. 10. Children with unverified insurance cannot be vaccinated. NET Health will accept cash or a check (with a check number of 500 or greater) for low-cost vaccinations.

The Smith CMS staff can answer questions at (903) 593-7058.

Smith CMS received a grant from TMA’s Be Wise ― Immunize program to support this event. Be Wise — Immunize has given more than 341,000 shots to Texas children, adolescents, and adults since the program began in 2004. Funding for Be Wise — Immunize is provided in 2018 by the Texas Medical Association Foundation with generous support from H-E-B, TMF Health Quality Institute, Pfizer Inc., and gifts from physicians and their families.

TMA is the largest state medical society in the nation, representing more than 51,000 physician and medical student members. It is located in Austin and has 110 component county medical societies around the state. TMA’s key objective since 1853 is to improve the health of all Texans. TMA Foundation raises funds to support the public health and science priority initiatives of TMA and the family of medicine.

Be Wise — Immunize is a service mark of the Texas Medical Association.
