Gov. Greg Abbott appointed internist Robert David Martinez, MD, of Mission to the Texas Medical Board (TMB) for a term set to expire April 13, 2019.
Dr. Martinez is the chief medical officer and chief physician executive at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance (DHR) in Edinburg and senior executive vice president of DHR Health.
“This appointment is a testament to Dr. Martinez’ hard work and dedication to the calling of medicine,” said TMA Immediate Past President Carlos J. Cardenas, MD, chairman of the board of directors of Doctors Hospital at Renaissance. “Having known Dr. Martinez for years, I am certain he will work in the best interests of all Texas physicians and patients while serving on the board.”
Governor Abbott also appointed Linda Molina, a San Antonio criminal defense attorney, as a lay member of the TMB.
TMB regulates the practice of medicine in Texas. The 18-member board includes 11 medical doctors and doctors of osteopathic medicine.
