(OK, here’s a hint: TexMed 2018 is your chance to network with other students and physicians, to see ZDoggMD in person, and to enjoy the JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort and Spa.)
If those reasons weren’t enough for you (and you must admit, they’re pretty good), here is one more:
You’ll have the opportunity to help shape TMA policy by serving on a board, council, or committee, or on the Medical Student Section (MSS) Executive Council.
But you have to apply for those positions by April 15, so act fast.
The MSS Executive Council is elected annually to direct the activities of the section at the state level. Here’s what you need to know:
- Open positions are: chair, vice chair, reporter, American Medical Association delegate co-leaders (two positions), and TMA delegate co-leaders (two positions).
- Elections will be held during the MSS Business Meeting scheduled for 1 to 3:30 p.m. May 18 at TexMed 2018.
- To apply for a position on the MSS Executive Council for the 2018-2019 term, you must submit a letter of intent and your CV to your section coordinator by April 15.
Medical student representatives and alternate representatives are appointed to serve one-year terms on TMA’s boards, councils, and committees.
If you want to know which group is right for you, check out the TMA Governance Structure.
More information about TexMed 2018, including online registration, can be found on TMA’s website.
