Physicians Honored For Helping Keep Their Colleagues Healthy

PHW_AwardEach year, TMA’s Committee on Physician Health and Wellness honors physicians who have made significant contributions to its education programs throughout the year.

At its 25th Annual Physician Health and Wellness (PHW) Retreat this past weekend, Plano psychiatrist Sejal Mehta, MD, received the 2017 PHW Regional Education Team - Outstanding Volunteer Award. Dr. Mehta gave 11 continuing medical education presentations to more than 300 physicians and participated in three course reviews in 2017.

Throughout 2017, physicians on the committee’s education team gave presentations to 3,459 physicians at 62 county medical societies, hospitals, and other entities. Eighteen team members gave at least one presentation to physicians during 2017, and 23 participated in ad hoc committees to review 15 courses for physicians and medical students.

The committee’s activities encourage physicians to promote and maintain their health and wellness, which fosters healthy lifestyles in patients. Check out the full list of the PHW courses, most of which offer ethics credit.
