TMA’s Be Wise — Immunize to Give Nearly 2,000 Flu Shots

 Sept. 27, 2017

  • WHAT: Texas Medical Association’s (TMA’s) Be Wise — ImmunizeSM program announces vaccination clinics across the state providing free flu shots to protect Texans from influenza, or flu. TMA physicians and volunteers will administer nearly 2,000 vaccinations at the clinics.
  • WHEN: Sept. 30-Nov. 18, 2017 (See schedule below.)
  • WHERE: Your community and others across the state
  • WHO: The Be Wise clinics are hosted by TMA physicians, medical students, TMA Alliance members (TMA physician and spouse volunteers), county medical societies, and community immunization coalitions.

TMA is coming to communities across Texas to vaccinate to prevent flu. The flu is a severe respiratory virus, much worse than the common cold … and it can be deadly. Doctors say everyone 6 months of age and older should get a flu vaccination every year to protect themselves and those around them.

TMA’s Be Wise ― Immunize program has given nearly 330,000 shots to Texas children, adolescents, and adults since the program began in 2004. Funding for Be Wise — Immunize is provided by the TMA Foundation in 2017 thanks to generous support from H-E-B, TMF Health Quality Institute, along with contributions from physicians and their families.

Below is a schedule of upcoming Be Wise flu events, which kick off close to Oct. 1, Influenza Awareness Day.
