Wichita Falls-Area Physicians Take TMA Leadership Positions

July 10, 2017

Two Wichita Falls-area physicians have been selected for leadership positions in the Texas Medical Association (TMA). TMA held elections and appointments in conjunction with its TexMed conference and expo, held this year in Houston. The physicians will begin their term of service at TMA’s Fall Conference in September.

TMA leadership appoints or elects TMA physicians and medical students to one of TMA’s 25 boards, councils, and committees. They are responsible for studying health care-related issues and making recommendations on important health care policy affecting Texas patients and their physicians.

Evan C. Meyer, MD, an emergency physician in practice for four years, was elected to TMA’s Council on Health Service Organizations. The council studies, makes recommendations, and takes action related to the organization of and services provided by patient-care facilities, including emergency departments; ambulatory surgery centers; hospitals; and skilled nursing, long-term-care, assisted living, hospice, home care, and other treatment facilities.

T. David Greer, MD, a family physician in practice for 50 years, was reappointed to TMA’s Committee on Rural Health. The committee reviews and comments on laws, regulations, and activities that affect patient care in rural areas.

Both physicians are members of the Wichita-Archer-Baylor-Clay-Knox County Medical Society.

TMA is the largest state medical society in the nation, representing more than 50,000 physician and medical student members. It is located in Austin and has 110 component county medical societies around the state. TMA’s key objective since 1853 is to improve the health of all Texans.
