July 10, 2017

Kristene Gugliuzza, MD, a Galveston transplant surgeon in practice for 31 years, was appointed to the Texas Medical Association’s (TMA’s) Committee on Continuing Education. TMA held elections and appointments in conjunction with its TexMed conference and expo, held this year in Houston. Dr. Gugliuzza will begin her term of service at TMA’s Fall Conference in September.

TMA physicians and medical students are appointed or elected to one of TMA’s 25 boards, councils, and committees. They are responsible for studying health care-related issues and making recommendations on important health care policy affecting Texas patients and their physicians.

The Committee on Continuing Education monitors and studies trends and issues in continuing medical education and recommends TMA policy on the subject.

Dr. Gugliuzza is a member of the Galveston County Medical Society.

TMA is the largest state medical society in the nation, representing more than 50,000 physician and medical student members. It is located in Austin and has 110 component county medical societies around the state. TMA’s key objective since 1853 is to improve the health of all Texans.
