A Victory for the Underdog
Miguel Gomez, MD, who is now at Houston’s Methodist West Hospital, says repairing his reputation after he was the victim of a smear campaign by the Memorial Hermann Hospital System has been a slow process. The years-long legal battle he fought with Memorial Hermann Memorial City Medical Center ended, at least for now, with a jury verdict awarding him $6.4 million. By Joey Berlin

PUBLIC HEALTH (pages 4147)

A Texas-Size Problem
Texas' health disparities have deepened as the state's population has grown and become more diverse.
