315.028Tobacco Taxation for Funding Programs. The Texas Medical Association supports (1) a substantial increase of the excise tax on all tobacco products sold in the State of Texas; (2) allocation of a percentage of the revenue generated from the substantially increased excise tax on all tobacco products sold in the State of Texas toward tobacco cessation and education programs currently administered by the Texas Inter-Agency Tobacco Task Force; and (3) allocation of the remaining percentage of the revenue generated from the substantially increased excise tax on all tobacco products sold in the State of Texas specifically toward health care costs for children (Amended Res. 301-I-00; deleted CM-C Rep. 2-A-03; see Policy 315.000).
