Medical Education Admissions: Only the most qualified students should be admitted to Texas medical schools, without regard to sex, race, color or creed. Admission committees should give preference to students who have pursued successfully a broad range of study. Admission committees should make final selection decisions using criteria that appraise students' abilities to learn independently, acquire critical analytical skills, develop the values and attitudes essential for members of a caring profession, and contribute to the society of which they are a part (Council on Medical Education, p 90, A-94; reaffirmed CME Rep. 1-A-05; reaffirmed CME Rep. 3-A-15).
