200.016 Graduate Medical Education

Graduate Medical Education: An appropriate number of residency positions should be maintained and funded to accommodate need. Graduate medical education (residency training) is an integral component in the continuum of a physician's medical education. High quality education requires an effective teacher-learner relationship rather than the relationship of employer and employee (Council on Medical Education, p 90, A-94; amended CME Rep. 4-A-04; reaffirmed CME Rep. 2-A-14).
