50.006 Colon Cancer Screening


Colon Cancer Screening: The Texas Medical Association supports legislation in Texas to require insurance coverage for colorectal cancer screening in which patients and physicians should have the option to utilize a variety of tests, such as fecal occult blood test, fecal immunochemical test, stool DNA test, flexible sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy, double-contrast barium enema, CT colonography (virtual colonoscopy), or other appropriate techniques, in accordance with the most recently established national guidelines in consultation with interested specialty societies and scientific organizations for the ages, family histories, and frequencies referenced in these guidelines (Amended Res. 303-A-01; amended CM-C Rep. 1-A-11).
