School Vaccinations Available for Tarrant County Kids

Aug. 3, 2016

  • WHAT: Tarrant County children can get low-cost vaccinations in preparation for school, and to prevent harmful and potentially deadly diseases. The Immunization Collaboration of Tarrant County (ICTC) and Texas Medical Association’s (TMA’s) Be Wise — ImmunizeSM program will join efforts to provide vaccinations to local kids.

  • WHEN: Aug. 6-Sept. 2, 2016

  • WHERE: Arlington, Bedford, Forest Hill, and Fort Worth (See schedule below.)

  • WHO: ICTC members and volunteers

August is National Immunization Awareness Month, and a great opportunity to make sure children’s vaccinations are up to date before school.

ICTC will provide low-cost vaccinations ($14 for one shot and $15 for two or more shots per child) for children who have no health insurance, are underinsured (insurance coverage with a cap on vaccines), or are covered by the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) or Medicaid. Cash, check, CHIP, and Medicaid are accepted as payment. Children who have health insurance that covers vaccines should see their physician.

Adult Safety Net Program vaccines for adults (19 years and older) with no health insurance will be available for a $25 administration fee per vaccine.

ICTC is made up of agencies and organizations, public and private, committed to eradicating vaccine-preventable childhood diseases in Tarrant County. ICTC projects directly improve the health and well-being of children through low-cost immunization events and community education about the importance of childhood immunizations.

ICTC collaborates with TMA’s Be Wise ― Immunize program, which has given nearly 300,000 shots to Texas children, adolescents, and adults since the program began in 2004. Funding for Be Wise — Immunize is provided in 2016 by the TMA Foundation thanks to generous support from H-E-B and TMF Health Quality Institute, along with gifts from physicians and their families.
